A Vashon Island waterfront custom home designed to maximize views of Quartermaster Harbor while responding thoughtfully to the site's unique conditions.
DescriptionDesigned by Vashon Island architect Keith Putnam of Putnam Architects, this contemporary custom home was built on a small and highly constrained waterfront site overlooking Quartermaster Harbor. After removing an aging summer cabin, McIntyre Construction transformed the property into a modern residence designed to maximize natural light, southern exposure, and water views. The home's unique geometry presented construction challenges, with multiple intersecting angles and a footprint that widens toward the waterfront. One of the home's most distinctive features is its hand-carved entry door, created by local Native American artist Israel Shotridge. Combined with custom cabinetry, post-and-beam construction, and premium materials throughout, the project reflects both craftsmanship and a strong connection to place.
